RX BAR Reviews for Women

I am always on the lookout for a healthy and natural bar that has a minimum of 10 grams of protein and is low in fat (especially saturated) and low in sugar. I know that 10 grams of protein is not really a protein bar for those looking for a high protein bar or on a high protein diet, but as a woman and a personal trainer (not a bodybuilder), 10 grams of protein is a good compromise between a true protein bar and an energy bar. There are many bars with natural ingredients, but sadly few with more than a few grams of protein.
I’ve tried a lot of protein bars over the years. In my experience, the higher the protein, the more chalky and/or artificial the taste. Also, while being high in protein, they tend to be high in fat and high in chemicals. You should be able to pronounce the ingredients in your food and know what those ingredients are.

RX Bars are a good choice for women looking for a healthy bar with a good balance of protein, sugar and fat.

12 Flavors:

  1. Apple cinnamon
  2. Blueberry
  3. Chocolate Chip
  4. Chocolate Sea Salt
  5. Chocolate Peanut Butter
  6. Coconut Chocolate
  7. Coffee chocolate (seasonal)
  8. Maple sea salt
  9. Mint Chocolate
  10. Mixed Berry
  11. Peanut Butter
  12. Pumpkin Spice (seasonal)

With so many flavors, most people find several that they really like. The flavors are somewhat intense in some varieties. The Coffee Chocolate has a strong espresso flavor–great if you like strong coffee. Maybe a bit overpowering if you don’t really love coffee. It is a seasonal flavor for some reason. The Mint Chocolate has a refreshing mint flavor. Not the chocolate mint you typically think of–more like a breath mint mixed with chocolate. I love these two, intense flavors.

If you like a sweet/salty mixture, you will enjoy the Maple Sea Salt and the Chocolate Sea Salt. For me, I don’t care for the salt mixture. I would prefer these without the salt. However, a lot of people love this combination.

There are plenty of chocolate flavors. Besides the two I mentioned, there is Coconut Chocolate, Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Peanut Butter. I find these all delicious.RX Bar Reviews for Women

If you are not a chocolate lover, or like variety, there is the Peanut Butter, Blueberry, Apple Cinnamon and Mixed Berry, too. If you like blueberries, you will love the Blueberry. I love the Mixed Berry. It’s a mixture of strawberry, raspberry and cranberry flavors. It has a bit of a tartness. I was a little disappointed in the Apple Cinnamon. It doesn’t have as much of an apple cinnamon taste as would be expected. You can’t beat the Peanut Butter flavor if you love peanut butter. The Pumpkin Spice is seasonal, as can be expected. It tastes like pumpkin bread. You better stock up on this flavor–it doesn’t hang around long.RX Bar Reviews for Women

  1. I have tried two of the flavors, Apple & Blueberry. I like the flavors, but I can’t get past the texture. To me they are like trying to chew on rubber. You better have some water on hand as you will need it. I bought a box of each directly from RX, but will not be buying them again. I will try some of the other recommendations. I prefer something a little more on the crunchy side rather than chewy. My go to is a handful of almonds, althoughnot as much protein as these bars.

    1. Hi Pam
Thanks for your honest opinion on the RX Bars. If you are looking for a crunchy bar, the RX BAR is probably not for you. Some people like them best a little warm, so they are softer. As for almonds, they are a good snack, but not a good source of protein, unfortunately.

  2. Wow,
61% of purchasers at Amazon gave them 5 stars. That is impressive, these things usually taste like crap! I need to order them now before I forget. Thanks for the tip!

    1. Hi Tara,
Yes, these RXBARS are quite tasty! I eat these all the time, myself. There are a lot of flavors to choose from–something for everyone!

  3. Oh my gosh, now I see a lot of really great flavors! I just read your post on the pumpkin bars. I have been looking on the web for a new bar with a little bit of variety. I love the variety pack! I have not been able to find something like that for the bars I have bought in the past. Great price and great flavors. You don’t find them to be grainy or chalky tasting do you?

    1. Hi there,
Thanks for visiting and taking the time to leave a comment and question. The RX BARs do not have a grainy or chalky taste or texture at all. The texture is chewy because of the dates. There is no added protein concentrates or isolates that can give bars that chalkiness or graininess. I have had many of those. I’d love to here what you think of the RX BARS.
